A strange silver UFO was found today flying over Bristol, England. A local resident in North Filton named David Leahy took the photo above, which was reported by the Mirror.
He said, "I was about to get a Chinese carryout when I spotted it. A few people were taking pictures when they saw me taking some.
"It's probably just a weather balloon, but you never know! It was ascending slowly I think — no sudden movements, so probably not ET!"
UFO in Bristol, England
Bristol is a UFO hotspot — especially in July! Just last year there were two separate sightings within 30 hours of each other. The first was seen around 7:20 pm on July 17th, and was photographed by Claudiu Illie. It was a strange silver object that seemed to be very, very high in the sky.
The second took place the following day around 10pm, and was spotted by 12-year-old Martha Thompson and her father, Graeme. They saw a circular orange light in the Kingswood sky. Martha was able to capture the strange light on film; the light originally wasn't moving, but when it disappeared she filmed a silver object streaking away from its location higher into the sky.
The U.K. has seen its fair share of UFO encounters, and the British government actually created a program similar to the U.S.'s Project Blue Book. The program was titled Project Condign, and was run from 1997 to 2000.
According to the author(s) of the report released after Project Condign finished, UFOs had an "indisputable" observable presence, but no evidence was found to suggest they are "hostile or under any type of control." The author(s) found that most UFO sightings they analyzed were simply misidentified common objects such as aircraft and balloons.
For all other sightings, they conveniently reached the conclusion that the sightings were most likely caused by meteorological events that aren't fully understood by modern science.
